| The EMC Directive Protection requirements |

| Relevant apparatus shall be constructed so that:
|
| the electromagnetic disturbance it generates does not exceed a level
allowing other relevant apparatus to operate as intended |
|
| and |
|
| it has a level of intrinsic immunity which is adequate to enable it to
operate as intended |
|
| when it is: |
|
i) |
properly installed and maintained; and |
ii) |
used for the purpose for which it was intended. |
| In other words, "Do not cause interference and make sure you are
immune to interference". |
|
| Directive translated into UK law as EMC Regulations 1992 (SI 1992/2372)
and amended EMC Regulations 1994 (SI 1994/3080) plus other amendments.
