Action based learning for the lean enterprise
Learning by doing
In collaboration with Unipart Advanced Learning Systems, one of
TVTs partners in service delivery, TVT offers groups of individuals from a mix of
companies or organisations the opportunity to work together to address one or more areas
of common interest. One of the group acts as host to the others and, together with
facilitation and support from UALS and TVT specialists, the group develop and implement
business process solutions at the hosts site.
The host company is able to benefit from immediate implementation and
the "guests" take the knowledge and experience gained from the programme into
their own companies.
Benefit from group experience
Programmes may be run for teams within single companies but, especially
for smaller firms the mixed company approach offers substantial savings and
individuals benefit from the cross-fertilisation of ideas, experiences and current
practice which inevitably emerges from such groups. The principles of sharing experiences
and benefiting from such cross-fertilisation between different companies, possibly in
different sectors, are well established within TVTs business networks. The action
based learning experience is, in effect an intensive and well focused extension to Network
activities and members of TVTs business networks benefit from substantial discounts
on all action based learning workshops.
Quality, cost and delivery focus
The main topics covered current by TVTs action based learning
initiative focus on lean operation cutting costs, improving quality and reducing
lead times within the enterprise and the extended supply chain. Development of new ways of
defining and addressing problems and the application of Japanese tools and techniques are
key features of these learning by doing workshops. The principles are equally applicable
to service based companies as they are to manufacturers. In fact they may be applied in
almost all organisations, including public sector bodies.
Action based learning workshops may be undertaken in, for example, one intensive week
or in some instances, a series of shorter workshops over a longer, implementation period
may be more appropriate. The process may be tailored around particular companys or
groups needs. For an informal discussion entirely without obligation, contact TVT
